Durations are what make the wait estimate useful on day one. It corrects itself against how long jobs really take at your place.
How the wait is worked out
Twenty-five minutes a head to begin with, then corrected against your own cutting times. A customer waiting for one particular barber is estimated against that barber's line, not the shop's.
And the rule underneath it
The regular who only sits with one barber does not block the person who would take anyone — they wait in different lines, and both can see why. When a booked cut lands in the middle of a walk-in rush, the rule for who goes next is set once and applies to everybody.
